Project Area Summary

Gunung Leuser National Park, Sumatra

Responsible Tourism Needs Assessment and capacity development program/support for development of ecotourism enterprise and planning, for Districts and buffer-zone communities of UNESCO’s World Heritage for Nature, Gunung Leuser National Park and ecosystem. (Feb 2014, ongoing).

Kerinci Seblat National Park, Sumatra

This 13,750km2 national park located in Sumatra spans 4 provinces; West Sumatra, Jambi, Bengkulu and South Sumatra.

Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Sumatra

Located in Lampung, South Sumatra, and Benkulu. We conducted work with WCS research station.

Sentul Ecotourism Venture, Mega Mendung, Java

Sentul is our main ecotourism venture site and where idGuides began.

Here is where our Guides Development Program Centre is based and the well known Easy Escape Jakarta trails.

We offer camping, trekking, outdoor education, and training in our site.

Wehea Forest, Berau, Kalimantan

Together with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), we are working with communities in East Kalimantan in the Wehea Forest to offer support with their ecotourism ventures and linking them to markets.

Minahasa, Sulawesi

Located in North Sulawesi.

Carstensz, Papua

Cartstensz is one of the world’s Seven Summits. Here it is the only place in the world on the equator with snow all year round – but due to climate change it is quickly disappearing.

As part of the DFID-funded Protarih development program, idGuides was in Timika-Papua to support local expedition operator Adventure Carstensz and its affiliated Yayasan the Somatua Foundation to develop their ecotourism product and make sure that both procedures and capacities are sufficiently capable of carrying forward their mutual development goals. (Jan 2015).

Waigeo, Raja Ampat, Papua

Working with Flora and Fauna International (FFI) to support local tribes to develop Birds of Paradise Treks and expedition for the Warimuk community’s ecotousim venture. Also, supporting the Sapokren community with Wilson’s Bird-of-Paradise and Homestay venture (Nov 2015, ongoing).
